We are delighted that The FA (The Football Association) is supporting our bid to host the Gay Games in London2018.
“Sport has fantastic powers to bring communities together and we are sure that the Games in London will be a great opportunity to encourage participation and provide a focus for inclusion in sport.
The FA believes that discrimination in whatever form, against any group of people or section of our multi-faceted society, must be eradicated. The FA is leading the way in promoting inclusion in football, launching our new Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Plan in December 2012 and lending support to the ‘Football v Homophobia’ campaign. By further highlighting inclusion in sport through the Gay Games in London would provide an extra focus for the good work being done here and all over the country.
The FA supports the bid to bring the Gay Games to London in 2018 and looks forward to the Games inspiring people to be their very best and celebrating sport in our capital once more.”
Alex Davis, Chair of London2018 Bid says, “We’re delighted that the Football Association is supporting our bid to bring the Gay Games to London in 2018. Football is one of the most popular activities for LGBT sportspeople around the world and we would expect large numbers of people to be keen to play football at the Gay Games in London. To have the support of the governing body of English Football sends a clear and positive message to all LGBT sportspeople that London welcomes you and supports you to achieve your goals.”
Football Association…thank you.
